I am going to come back and start things up but hopefully until then I wont do too much damage.

Day 2 - 06/24/2008

I still don't know about the wii fit. I mean I like it, but it is definitely not a magic machine. What is the #1 reason why people do not fight through and keep with a workout routine?

Too hard? Not enough fun? Don't care enough about health?

I don't think its any of these answers, if I had to put money on it, I would say the #1 reason why people don't stick with workouts is:

TIME

This is not exempt from the wii fit. I was not hoping that the wii fit would do the work for me, but I was expecting the video game, tracking, and unlockables would keep me interested enough to keep with it.

We will see.

Anyway, on to my daily fitness:

Diet:
Breakfast: Eggs, Bacon, Toast
Lunch: 1 PB&J, few goldfish
Dinner: 5 Slices of Domino's Pizza & Coke

Yeah I know, why pizza again? I had a meeting where this is the food that was brought in. Eating healthy does not go hand and hand with busy lifestyles.

Exercise Notes:

I got up at 6 am to squeeze in a workout and could not do much more than 25 minutes of wii workout minutes. I did the pushups & jacknives once again. Those things are great. So hard. I love hard workouts. Basically, I either stick with the hard stuff or the games that take no work.

I then did 35 wii workout minutes at 8:30 PM tonight after I got finished with my meeting. I unlocked an amazing ab exercise..."the plank"

If you have played sports I've always heard this referred to as the bridge. This is where you put your forearms on the balance board put your toes out and make your back, rear, and legs straight. This is great and it is wonderful having the wii count it off for you. It starts with 30 seconds which I did easily. However, from what I remember anything longer than 60 seconds I do not do so well.

Total Wii Workout Minutes: 62 mins

25 mins - Balance Games
10 mins - Aerobics
20 mins - Strength (pushups, abs, etc.)
7 mins - Yoga

I'm still obese, I actually gained 1 pound from yesterday. It is normal for your body to fluctuate a couple pounds throughout the day. Hopefully I can see a trend down at some point.

I get married this Saturday, woo hoo, which means that as of Thursday I will not be on this thing for til this day Tuesday (two weeks from today). Therefore this blog will not receive updates during the time I am on my honeymoon.

Hopefully my wii fit won't be too mad at me after it is all over.

Day 1 - 06/23/2008

Got the wii fit!!! I was so excited to work off the 5 slices of pizza I ate for dinner. So, my diet over the weekend was:

Saturday
Breakfast: Eggs (sunny side up), bacon, toast
Lunch: Moe's Burrito - Business Lunch
Dinner: Pasta with chicken sausage

Notes: I try to eat hearty breakfast with things the body can do something with. It works off the fat during the day and uses the good stuff. I never knew why breakfast was the most important meal of the day til recently. I need to chill out with the fatty stuff for lunch & dinner.

Sunday
Breakfast: Eggs (sunny side up), bacon, bagel
Lunch: Lean Pork Chop with corn & brocolli
Dinner: McDonalds McChicken & half an order of fries (was in a hurry)

Notes: I think I did better with my intake...but that McDonalds stuff is a deflater. If I could just set aside more time my diet would be better.

Now on to Monday

Monday
Breakfast: 1/2 a pop tart
Lunch: 1 PBJ sandwich (couple swigs of water) - big rush here...I ate it on an elevator in between meetings
Dinner: 5 Slices of Pizza, 5 pieces of crazy bread, & mountain dew (Gorged myself cause I was famished from the rest of the day)

Notes: I think you can tell that I did the opposite of what I try to do. Fatty stuff at the beginning of the day, lean stuff at the end of the day. My body was messed up from so little food. I am a pretty big guy.

Wii Fit Notes from Monday - 06/23/2008

Workout Length: 1 hr 2 mins
Actual Playing time: 1 hr 51 mins

Yoga: 15 mins
Strength: 12 mins
Games: 25 mins
Aerobics: 10 mins

I had to sit through a lot of "show you how to do it" screens.

BMI: 30.05 - Obese...ugh

This is not as bad as expected, I should be able to drop into the "overweight" category within weeks (normally). However, this weekend I am getting married and going on my honeymoon in which I will be without the wii fit for 1 week (not to mention at an all inclusive resort...pray might be needed)

Anyway, like I said in my challenges...my goal is to no longer be Obese.

The exercises were good, not as difficult as I'd like but I think they will get increasingly harder with more reps (wii fit just wants you to try it first, not over exert yourself immediately)

Favorite exercises:
Yoga: Tree...I thought this was a challenge and I love challenges. I really think I can work on it and get better.

Strength: Pushups/Planks & Jacknives. If the wii fit only had these two exercises it would be worth the money. I know you can do them in real life but I will not stick with them unless they are on a video game for some reason to keep track of progress. Jacknives REALLY DO work your abs and pushups you can't really cheat on.

Aerobics: I thought these were underwhelming, didn't really work up a sweat, except for the running in place exercise in which they told me to NOT PASS THE TRAINER. Well you know that me (as would all other guys) move your legs at a rapid rate in order to pass him...and you know what, I did!!! However, it gave me a really really low score. Oh well.

Balance Games: Fun, but not a workout. My favorite game was some marble game where I the balance board is like the little board on screen that i can shift with how I shift my weight. Then I have to roll the balls into holes within a time limit. Like I said, lots of fun, not a work out. My goal is to sweat.

First impressions were good, I am excited to workout tonight again!

Challenge - 6/20/08

This is the challenge of an obese man (according to BMI). The intent of this website is intended as a document for him. This will not be publicized or shared. If you have stumbled here, it is my goal to have you inspired to pursue your challenge.

3 Challenges that I am taking on as of June 20th, 2008.

Challenge #1 - To no longer be in the "obese" category and just be "overweight" by October 1, 2008.

Challenge #2 - To no longer be in the "overweight" category and be in the "normal" category 1 year from today - June 20th, 2009.

Challenge #3 - I have never been able to do 100 pushups. It is my goal to be able to accomplish this feat.
